The MBJM AJ Aviator Hat Sewing Pattern creates a wonderfully warm and cosy hat perfect for anyone who enjoys the outdoors.
This pattern includes the following sizes: Newborn – 3m, 3-6m, 6-12m, age 1-2, age 2-4, age 4-7, age 7-12, Small Adult, Medium Adult, Large Adult and XL Adult. An overlocker can be used for most steps, but a regular sewing machine is all that is needed. The smaller sizes can get very fiddly, so if you’re fairly new to sewing I strongly recommend starting with a larger size. The pattern is suitable for enthusiastic beginners.
The MBJM AJ Aviator Hat pattern is named after the inspirational aviator, Amy Johnson. She was born in Yorkshire and was the first woman to fly solo from Britain to Australia. I consider both Yorkshire and Australia to be my home, and my maiden name was Johnson so I feel quite a connection with Amy! She completed several record-breaking flights and flew as part of the Air Transport Auxiliary during the Second World War and also qualified as a ground engineer, the only woman at the time to do so. She also became a style icon, model and journalist. From every angle she was an inspiration and I hope she would have liked this hat!
