The MBJM Penny Pinny Child Pinafore Dress is a relaxed pinafore dress. It has either tie straps (which don’t need undoing in order to take the garment on and off) or traditional buckles. There are FIVE pockets for hiding all your stuff. There are two lengths – mini to sit above the knee and midi to cover the knee. A back split can be added to both lengths.
This pattern goes from prem./small newborn up to Age 12 and there is a matching adult pattern available call the Penelope Pinafore.
This pattern is designed for medium weight woven fabrics such as corduroy, denim or linen.
The MBJM Penny Pinny Child Pinafore Dress is suitable for advanced beginners. An overlocker/serger will create the neatest finish, but all options can be made using a regular sewing machine.
This pattern has two print options. You can print at home on A4/legal/letter sized paper, or take the A0 file to a print shop.
The pattern is created in layers meaning you can print just the layers (sizes) you need.
This is an instant download PDF, not a finished item. Due to the digital nature of PDF patterns, no refund can be given if purchased in error.

Yes! MBJM will always state the sewing level for a pattern in its description. However, MBJM provide very detailed instructions with lots of helpful photos so that sewists of all levels can access them. And whilst an overlocker would be useful for many of my patterns, it is not essential, and they can all be done on a regular sewing machine.
Yes, please do! Recognition of the fact you are using a Made by Jack’s Mum pattern, somewhere in your listing, website or Facebook page is appreciated, but not compulsory. There is no license fee for selling from any MBJM pattern. However, in the small print for each pattern MBJM do make the suggestion that it would be kind to make a charitable donation of your choice instead of paying a license fee to me.
The ‘layers’ function enables you to select just the sizes you want when viewing and printing a pattern. To use it you must open your patterns using Adobe Reader. On the left hand side of your screen you will see a symbol that looks like two diamonds. Click on that and simply select the layers you require. Whichever sizes you need, make sure to also select the ‘pattern information’ layer. This contains things such as labels and page numbers. I always recommend printing from a desktop or laptop, rather that a phone or tablet.
All of MBJM patterns are formatted for A4, letter and legal sized paper. They work hard with testers to make sure that people all over the world can easily use their patterns.
You can find all of MBJM’s sizing charts below – and the relevant charts within each listing
