At Caboodle Textiles we aim to ensure that every aspect of our activities is conducted in accordance with good environmental practices.
We aim to reduce the amount of waste we create; by constantly reviewing operating practices and by sorting and recycling all the waste we produce during the packaging processes.
Whilst we have an environmental policy that outlines the steps we’ve taken, there are aspects of that process that could be used by customers at home so we thought we’d share!
Our fabric is delivered to us from suppliers on cardboard bolts and cardboard rolls. All bolt boards are used firstly for bolting up our own roll printing. This creates a cycle process with no waste. Any left over bolt boards are used for education groups or made available to customers for organising their own fabrics.
We share these with local schools and craft groups. We often have bundles available to take away at open days. Would you’d like us to save any for you?
Any plastic packaging which fabric arrives in, is reused for large parcels going out. Some suppliers send us bolts tied with plastic ribbon. We never throw this away and always make use of it to secure our own bolts or for tying around orders of labels and elastics.
We have furnished our unit using recycled and upcycled materials. Many of the storage in the unit is 2nd hand or upcycled. Our relaxation area is kitted out with all second hand furniture too.
At the moment, we’re struggling to find a solution for label backing paper which can’t be recycled. This is something we use for DPD and would like to reduce, we will continue to research and brainstorm ideas. If you know how it can be repurposed please let us know!
